Obsessions

People need obsessions. Obsesions are the reasons we live our everyday lives. These are what we spend our time, our money, and our thoughts on. Obsessions become our world.

Everybody has obsessions. A few examples:

The most common obsession is a loved one, be it a boyfried/girlfriend, friend, family member. Someone whom you 'can't live without', when in fact you can. The sad part is that when they leave, our life seems to be void of purpose; until we find a new obsession.

One of the latest obsessions is online games. People have lost their education, work, or family because they're more obsessed with these games then they are anything else. People have committed theft and murder because their lives revolve around this obsession.

Religious fundamentalism, the most heated obsession, is evident in recent and ongoing events. People kill and die for religion, for if you are not obsessed like them, then your purpose in life - your obsession, is forbidden.

There are a lot of other obsessions: work, these things we call 'hobbies', sex, money, drugs, power, knowledge and a lot of others - the list too long to name; but no matter how you look at it, everyone's got obsesions. Seemingly innocent, or obviously extreme, life just wouldn't be the same without them.

An Immature in Love

One thing I have learned today is that I haven't learned anything when it comes to love. It still hurts as much as it did ten years ago, maybe even more. The only difference is that I'm older. Wiser, I thought I was too, but apparently not when it comes to love.

I've seen the mushy movies where you can't help but cry to Julia Roberts' acting. But I always thought they were overdone for the loveless in their 40's; for the hopeless romantics and those with little to no experience in love. But I was wrong. It seems that no matter how many times I've been in love or what I've been through in life, it's just the same. I will always be an immature in love

Untitled

From my beloved:

I know I've caused you so much pain
Made you feel your efforts were in vain
Many times I have made you sad and cry and
You'd just tell me you love me and ask me why

I believe it's just my pride and my stubborn way
I am half-crazy so my obstinate self would stay
I know I hardly put into consideration your feelings
Or what you might have currently been dealing

I've tried to change but there's not enough determination
I always end up putting you back in desperation
That I will never change and will always be the same
That I might just end up putting out the burning flame

But you just do not know how much I regret
Every time I see or hear you cry or fret
You just don't know how scared I am to lose you
I do not mean it every time I hurt or confuse you

You are the only one for me I know that for sure
You are my life, my everything my miracle cure
I am very sorry for all the pain that I have caused
Without you I would be nothing but a child lost

Do not give up on me or on the love we share
Please know that I deeply love you and I do care
I know this may sound redundant and all too familiar
I will really try my best not to hurt you or anything similar

I love you so much boo and I promise to stay true
And I will never love anybody else as much as I love you
There is only one thing which you must not do
That is to break my heart and find someone new.
The tip of the iceburg.

That's what best describes the lives that we are aware of. In fact, we are much smarter than we really seem to be. The average person actually uses just around 10% of his brain capacity, which means that we are all either highly intelligent beings beyond our instant imaginations or that we are a greatly underdeveloped species with years of evolution left in our times (depending on which side of the glass you're looking at). Nevertheless, we live our lives.

A summer romance - for some good friends of mine

Friends turned to lovers. Sounds like an all too familiar plot in those romantic movies we love. Two very good friends; one boy, one girl (or whatever way you may want to put it). Both very attractive and in turn, find each other such; smart, great conversationalists together, are in total comfort with each other, are perfect companions, and both love each other (platonic)...basically all the ingredients of an ideal lifelong relationship. I myslef have many female friends who I think could actually make great life partners because of our friendly chemistry, companionship and comfort. Everyone else around you may say "Why don't the two of you just get together?", and everyone thinks you are perfect, hey, you even think so too sometimes. But there's always that one single ingredient missing in real life. You can't seem to identify it. You would be the perfect couple but it doesn't seem right. The answer: it isn't perfect. Why? Because you are missing one of the most important ingredients to start a romantic relationship: PASSION.

The thrill, the excitement, the passion. This is what makes your eyes meet anothers in a coffeeshop or bar. This is what makes you constantly think and want to be with someone else. This is what makes you see your perfect friend in another way, a romantic way (just incase anyone was confused). I'm not talking about sexual passion. You can always kiss, make out, and have sex with almost anyone if you are in a state of hormonal imbalance. But I'm talking about the passion that you should have after sex. The way in which you want to madly spend your time with and love that person. (this is getting so hard for me to explain) The way in which the other person lights up your world. That passion. If you have that passion, go for it. Friends into lovers is always the best relationship you could ever have. And don't give me that bullshit about wasting a good friendship, if ever it doesn't work out, you always have that friendship base that you can return too.

But I warn you, the line between friends and lovers is a thin one. And along the line lies a whole lot of confusion. So please, think it over. You already know in your mind that he/she is perfect for you. It's your hearts turn to decide now...
A friend taught me a lesson a few days ago: "Talk to strangers".

It's strange that when we are young, we are taught the anti-social behavior: "Don't talk to strangers". But remember that each person is special and can teach you something about life; you never know what you can gain. A new friend, a life's lesson, or maybe even an...ahem, lifelong partner. I'm not talking about approaching everyone in the shopping mall, but you should be able to start a conversation with the person next to you in the jeep (or bus, boat, or plane), or at a coffeeshop or bar. There is so much about people...it wouldn't hurt to try...
