People need obsessions. Obsesions are the reasons we live our everyday lives. These are what we spend our time, our money, and our thoughts on. Obsessions become our world.
Everybody has obsessions. A few examples:
The most common obsession is a loved one, be it a boyfried/girlfriend, friend, family member. Someone whom you 'can't live without', when in fact you can. The sad part is that when they leave, our life seems to be void of purpose; until we find a new obsession.
One of the latest obsessions is online games. People have lost their education, work, or family because they're more obsessed with these games then they are anything else. People have committed theft and murder because their lives revolve around this obsession.
Religious fundamentalism, the most heated obsession, is evident in recent and ongoing events. People kill and die for religion, for if you are not obsessed like them, then your purpose in life - your obsession, is forbidden.
There are a lot of other obsessions: work, these things we call 'hobbies', sex, money, drugs, power, knowledge and a lot of others - the list too long to name; but no matter how you look at it, everyone's got obsesions. Seemingly innocent, or obviously extreme, life just wouldn't be the same without them.
